Wurreker Awards - Dr Mary Atkinson Award 2022

The Wurreker Awards, presented by VAEAI (Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Inc) and the Victoria Government, recognise excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment, training, and development across private and public sectors.

 

The highly prestigious Dr Mary Atkinson award that is awarded to Koorie Organisations was won by Boorndawan Willam Aboriginal Healing Service. They are the lead specialist Aboriginal-specific family violence service provider in the eastern metropolitan region of Melbourne. In partnership with Swinburne University, Boorndawan has designed and commenced the delivery of a Graduate Certificate in Client Assessment and Case Management for Aboriginal Family Violence Practitioners.

Our Accredited Course

Graduate Certificate in Client Assessment and Case Management (Practitioner Stream - CHC82015)

The Graduate Certificate in Client Assessment and Case Management for practitioners, has been developed by Boorndawan Willam Aboriginal Healing Service (BWAHS) who are an Aboriginal community-controlled family violence organisation. BWAHS supports victim survivors, users of violence, their families, and kin. This course will be delivered in partnership with Swinburne University.

This nationally recognised graduate certificate has been developed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander practitioners in family violence case management roles.

The course draws on evidence-based best practice to support and further develop practitioners. Students will learn from one another through course facilitators creating an open interactive learning experience.

This course has been developed with the assistance of the Dhelk Dja Working Group and addresses the shared aim of keeping community safer from risks of family violence by developing their skills in but not limited to reflective practice, trauma and culturally informed assessment, case management and healing programs.
